Prairie dogs are an absolute necessity to a healthy prairie. We need to encourage the Government to restore more prairie dog towns on public lands. There is a movement to list the black-tailed prairie dog as an endangered species. THIS IS THE WRONG THING TO DO!!!! Everyone I know who has prairie dogs on their land has been poisoning them to try and completely eliminate them in case the endangered listing happens. If you had prairie dogs in your fields you would understand why they are doing this. A realistic management plan that allows landowners rights to manage their own land and an aggressive government program to restore the prairie dogs to the National Grasslands while still allowing hunting is the best plan.
So why do I shoot them, you ask? Why do people climb mountains...? Further, ranchers on private lands need an efficient method of control. People like me provide that service without wholesale poisoning (which I hate). I do it very efficiently.
